“What will your life be like in one year?” I often ask my community. Three years ago I was laid up on my couch and couldn’t walk, shut in due to an injury complicated by obesity. In my desperation to get out and live life, I looked out my windows at California’s Giant Sequoia National Monument and set a very big goal (for a person at 280 pounds who couldn’t walk): I would hike. This big, visual goal led me to a weight lower than I have ever been as an adult. Our community’s biggest success cases have had similar experiences. We are all cooped up now and looking out our windows, some with added physical limitations. Envision your life in one year, and make your goal big, visual, and completely physical with sights, sounds, and aromas.
